Duran Duran Reunion New Album/Reunion Tour: The original five members of Duran Duran are back in the studio to begin writing new material for the first time in sixteen years. This was the news that came from www.duranduran.com the bands official web site on May 23, 2001. Duran Duran had many hit songs in the 80's and early 90's, with such songs as Girls On Film, Planet Earth, Hungry Like The Wolfe, The Reflex, Wild Boys, Save A Prayer, Rio, Union of The Snake, Come Undone, Ordinary World, and many more. The band in 1985 spilt for a while to do some project and out of them project came The Power Station which John and Andy Taylor found which had many hits like Some Like It Hot, and Bang A Gone. Simon, Nick, and Roger went to Paris and recorded So Red The Rose by Arcadia (name that they had given there group) they had hits like: Election Day, and Good Bye Is Forever. Both albums had been successful. What would one expect they are very musically, writing lyrics, and vocally talented and fashion is always at high with Duran Duran. They always look spectacular on stage and off. As many of you may have not know that Duran Duran has still been around making new music, new videos and live shows, since Roger Taylor (drummer) known as Froggy to the band and the fans left the band in 1985. Roger decided it was time to move on after five and a half years of contributing to the Duran Duran records, video's and live shows. When it was time to go back into the studio Andy Taylor reclined and did not show up. Andy went on to a solo career and published his first album Thunder that was released in 1986. Duran Duran lost two members in 1985. The band's last show together was Live Aid 1985. The last album recorded as the original five Duran Duran members was Arcadia, and the last song was Wild Boys. The band had sung A View to A Kill in 1985, for the James Bond movie A View to A Kill. As many of us might remember the movie and fans of James Bond ourselves as well as Duran Duran. With the band not knowing quit what to do and in no big hurry, Warren Cuccurullo entered the studio and pretty well told them they needed him and that Andy was not coming back he was working with his ex-drummer, from Missing Persons. Warren was a founder of Missing Persons, some might remember the group from songs such as I Like Boys and Here and Now. Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor worked with Warren Cuccurullo, Mac Gollehon, Jimmy Maelen and The Horns: Leny Pickett, Steve Elson, and Stan Harrison to record Notorious which hade hits like: Notorious, and Skin Trade. That is how Warren Cuccurullo became a part of Duran Duran. He took over Andy Taylors place as lead guitar and John Taylor playing bass, Nick Rhodes keyboard, and Simon LeBon lead vocals. In 1997 John Taylor announced on Durancon that he was leaving, and this was before the album Maddazzaland album was done. John sought out a solo career and an acting career; he was pictured in Sugar Town and has had a success with his band. Actually, he was in two bands: 1996 Neurotic Outsiders Supergroup with Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols and Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum of Guns and Roses. In addition he formed a band that was called Terroristen, they had a couple of EPs out. He also has 2 solo albums: Feelings are Good and Other Lies and Techno for Two and an EP. It was also a very sorrow lost to the band, I cried and thought Oh, no what will happen now to Duran Duran. With the determination of Simon, Nick, and Warren the band went on to make new albums such as Meddazzaland 1997, Wedding Album 1993 and Pop Trash 2000. Wes Wehmiller took over Johns place as bass guitar and Joe Trevors played drums. Both Wes and Joe came from the group I Cladius. I had the pleasure of meeting and talking a bit with Wes after the MB, SC concert. I dearly feel in love with him. Wes is a gentlemen and sweetheart. We done a few photos together and I have talked with him in chat on the WesWehMiller fanatics web site. We have written few emails to each other. Wes has now joined Missing Persons. I think that is rather exciting. If I had the means of money I would travel to see a Missing Persons show in California. I had the pleasure of seeing them perform in Cleveland, Ohio 1993 (Wedding Album tour), Cleveland, Ohio Aug. 15, 2000 (Pop Trash Tour), and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at the House Of Blues 2001(Close Up tour). Well, word came on May 23, 2001 that the original fab 5 Duran Duran members are back in the studio starting beginning of June. I can tell you that John, Roger, and Andy Taylor have been working together before then on new material. The last 3 shows are in Japan and then that is it and Warren is going back to do a reunion tour with Missing Person's and seems to be very excited about it and has wished the guys luck. I was hurt that Warren was leaving, I will miss him and I send him warm hugs and kisses and lots of thank you's for being a part of making me smile and laugh. I just feel all warm and the excitement that wells up inside of me with just the mention of DD and their music is an unexplainable happiness. When I've been hurt or down there is always a song that Duran Duran has sung that I can relate to or even if I'm happy all I have to do is pop in a DD tape and I'm singing and dancing in my seat. Thank you Warren for being apart of that for fifteen years, you will be missed. I'm very excited about a reunion tour since I never did get to see them all together as a group. I'm very excited to see what they have in store for us in their new album and tour. I have not got to see John, Roger, and Andy Taylor for a long while, just pictures and the VH1 Where Are They Now. I actually have not seen Roger or Andy Taylor live, look very much forward to it. I did get to see John Taylor with them in Cleveland in 1993 at the Wedding Album tour. All three of the Duran Duran concerts that I have had the honor to attend, let me tell you were energetic, creative, colorful, delightful and soothing all in one. I tell you that Simon LeBon has a voice that is soothing. I swear his voice is gifted with a healing in his singing. His voice has healed me any many hurtful situations. Of course Simon is getting older, but as I say I am growing older with them. He is as lovely as he always has been and a kind sweet person inside and out. Nick has a birthday this week June 8 he is going to be 39 years old and he is a very loveable sweet person and not too hard on the eyes. I have sent Nick a birthday wish through Katy, she is the go between for Duran Duran and their fans, she answers questions about the band she is the one to ask. You can email her off from Duran Durans official site at www.duranduran.com and go to forums and click on Ask Katy. And you can see what questions other DD fans have asked and the answers. Sometime one of the guys will answer them. Exciting and awesome truly a caring band of their fans. There is also a Duran Duran message board at the official web site and you can go in and see what other fans have to say. I'm a proud member of the message board and known as wvduranie. We are a great bunch there and we have the one thing in common and that is our love and devotion for Duran Duran. The MB, SC show was the first time I was actually up front and it was great. I do hope that it is not the last time, as I plan to hopefully see 5 to 6 shows on the reunion tour. I had the honor of Nick Rhodes grabbing my hand and holding it for a few moments out at the tour bus. Wow, that was a dream come true. As Simon was the last of the group to come out, he stopped and said a few words to us, he reached out and went over top of other fans hands and grabbed mine and held it and finished talking to us. That was a dream come true also. Ill never forget the warmth and softness that their hands held as they held mine. They held my hand so gentle and caring. As the bus was pulling away Simon and Nick looked back and I blew them a kiss and waved bye, and they smiled and done the same back to me. I was so calm, for everything that just happened was a dream come true and it just felt right. I do hope that I at least get to see two of the six shows. It is time for me to save for the tours for many other Duranies/Duran Fans and me. My dream is to get to Birmingham, England to see them perform. Birmingham, England is where the Fabulous five Duran Duran members originated and formed the group Duran Duran. Actually the founders of Duran Duran was Nick Rhodes and John Taylor. Thank God, they did. I really dont know what I would of done without Duran Duran being a part of my everyday life. I have to say that I would love to attend at least one of them shows with a fellow Duranie that I was glad to be friends with in high school and have not had contact with her for many years now and her name in Yvonne Johnson. That would be awesome. I can remember that we would send a x-mas gift or a birthday card to one another, she would write Roger Taylor and I would write Nick Rhodes. I do miss her and wish that I might attend one show with her. All the Duran Duran shows I have seen was great and I tell you couldnt stand/sit still with the rhythm of their music. The first thing you know you is you are up dancing and singing every word to every song. My husband thought he would not like a Duran Duran concert and loved it and actually said that he would go back and see them again. He thought the music was great and loved the big screen on the stage and how Nick Rhodes put all the colors up there and the show was just awesome. My husband is an AC/DC fan and he just loved the concert and that should tell you something. Duran Duran are still around and with the upcoming tour and new album it will be something to remember because when the original five are together they have the electric energy to make you want to get up, dance and sing. It is going to be a great chance and opportunity to let the rest of the world know they are still strong as ever. I might not of had the pleasure of being around for the Beatles but I am here for Duran Duran. The first five photos are of the original 5 in 1985 and I got them from their fan club, which I was, a part of for a few years. And the next is from the Pop Trash tour and is post cards. The one with the baldhead is Mr. Warren Cucurullo. Thank you. Words from a 20 year True Blue Durannie/Duran Fan Melissa Britton. I may add that I will be a Duranie till I die, I already for see me rocking my grandchildren sing songs like Hungry Like The Wolfe, Save A Prayer, and Ordinary World and many more. If you would like you can take a look at my Duran Duran site and sign my guest book, located at the end of the homepage. It is not yet finished, but has a lot of actual concert photos of the three shows Ive had the honor to attend and a 1980s quiz that me and Yvonne had made up while in high school. My site URL is: https://wvduranie.tripod.com/wvduranieduranduransite/. Loves to hear from anybody still interested in Duran Duran and what you have to say. Is this not exciting news? A reunion tour, it might turn into being like the early 80s of girls screaming and crying all over again.
